Group 4 – The Trees

Timber Tectonics in the digital age – 2026

UO and OSU Students: Ella Rose Kelm, Emile Starkweather, Arthur Corbin, Ian Golightly

Timber Tectonics in the Digital Age explores how architecture can bring people together through design, construction, and community involvement. As part of this year’s project, temporary installations will be created at the Liminal Festival in Lima, Peru, and at the intersection of 13th Street and Philomath Boulevard in Oregon. The goal is to transform ordinary walkways into more interesting and memorable spaces.

Our group wanted to create a welcoming, nature-inspired space where people could gather, relax, and enjoy the outdoors. Through playful forms and comfortable seating, we aimed to create a fun and inviting environment for the community to connect and spend time together.

To bring this vision to life, we designed a tree-like pavilion with integrated seating, creating a nature-inspired gathering space where community members can relax, connect, and enjoy the surrounding environment.
