River Road CoHo is a co housing project project made up of micro unit clusters to house vulnerable and unhoused populations in the Eugene area. The clusters face each to create a sense of community and each unit can be distinguished by the color on the door, creating a sense of identity. The hexagonal module was a driving design feature and the layout of the clusters reflects this in its honeycomb like pattern. One aspect of the project was that the future residents would have the opportunity to build a portion of the unit making themselves feel empowered by creating their own living space. The onsite Community space uses mass timber and parametric modeling to emulate curvatures found in the winding Willamette River nearby.
