After gaining inspiration from raw-wood precedents like the Roundwood House by Rural Studio, we have been developing a system for using timber poles in their most structural and natural form. The unique hollow steel tube connection inspired us to research more complex wood connections that we may employ. The system of constructing a canopy for tenant-built units leads to the idea of participatory architecture wherein a community of individuals come together and build their collective future. Through the development of a parametric system and phased construction timeline, we have landed on a good mix of designed structure, contextual site moves, and pride in ownership.
